Our speaker was James Stück and the topic was "How International Management Consultants Approach Cross-Cultural Conflict Resolution." Jim Stück is Director of the Cross-Cultural Management division of Global Associates, located just outside Chicago. Jim works as a cross-cultural management consultant, trainer, and subject matter expert with Faculty status at Accenture, Faculty status with Carnegie Bosch Institute, and Adjunct Faculty status with McDonald’s Corporation’s Hamburger University. Other regular clients are Rockwell, FMC, UBS (Swiss), etc. In addition, Jim is an Associate Professor in Management and International Business at Valparaiso University, Indiana, Director of the Sino-American Management Institute (SAMI), and Managing Director of Roosevelt Institute for International Education, an international joint venture with Chinese partners. Prior to being a university professor, Jim worked for seven years as an international bank officer with J.P. Morgan Chase Bank and as an investment banker with Nagelvoort & Company, both on Wall Street, New York. Previously he worked for several years as an Assistant Country Manager with Educational Book Exhibits, Ltd., a British multinational, in Spain, India, and Nepal. He has articles and chapters published in Journal of International Business, Trade and Culture, Advances in Chinese Industrial Studies, The EDI Forum: Journal of Electronic Data Interchange, Journal of Teaching in International Business, and other publications. Jim speaks English and Spanish fluently, reads French, and has studied Chinese. His teaching and research have been honored by eight outstanding teacher awards, Kemper Foundation grants for international research, and an appointment as a Senior Fulbright Research Scholar.
